ATK-KEE Reuse partners with Theatre Lawrence and talks AT

Wednesday, May 1, 2019

If you were in the audience at the Theatre Lawrence production of Lend Me a Tenor in April 2019, you may have been the happy recipient of a free beverage ticket and a chat with a knowledgeable AT Specialist. Assistive Technology for Kansans works with Individuals of any age with disabilities or health conditions to access the technology they need to be more independent at work, at home, and in school. ATK-KEE Reuse, a project of ATK, took the lead as an Associate Co-Producer of the play’s 2-weeks of performances. Before the curtain call and during the intermission, play-goers were informed of the Reuse Project’s mission and scope of services. ATK-KEE is well known for providing individuals with lightly used, high-quality donated equipment that has been sanitized, refurbished as necessary to return to a like new condition, and given to Kansans who need the devices.

Laura Hanigan and her daughters Katlin and Chloe represented ATK during a Saturday evening performance. Chloe opened the theatre door, having appointed herself as the official greeter to the delight of many play-goers. Laura and Katlin offered information and insight about the Reuse program, and of course, the very appreciated beverage ticket. Laura said, “Several people told us that they have durable medical equipment that they no longer need and will be calling to donate and arrange a pick-up time. A few even mentioned they knew of individuals who may be contacting us for DME as well.”

ATK-KEE Reuse services are especially important to those Kansans who “fall through the cracks”, folks without health insurance, who are underinsured, or have limited resources. While individuals who are Medicaid eligible take priority, everyone is eligible to receive the high quality, lightly-used durable medical equipment from the KEE Reuse Program.
